I'g wearing the new MAC Padma Lakshmi collection

Who is the genetically blest being that is Padma Lakshmi? Well, I know her from watching one too many seasons of Meridian Chef. Call back the pea puree incident? No? WELL I Do, AND Information technology WAS SCANDALOUS!

You might know her from her modeling work or her cookbooks. She'south gorgeous. Absolutely beautiful. And she has a new MAC collection coming out presently (it'll exist available online and at select stores from March 15th through April).

It'due south a full collection — eyeshadows, blushes, a few liners, some brushes, lots of lipsticks, a gloss — and it looks luxe, with sturdy gilded packaging (that may or may non be metal) and intricate details. Items that would expect right at home on a tabular array in a high-end boutique that sells boho woven rugs, crystals, hammered artisan jewelry and couture peasant tops.

Feels kinda boho chic, yeah?

Everything feels weighty and expensive.

I'll be talking virtually other items from the collection over the next few days, but today was all nearly one of the 2 eyeshadow quads. I Really like 70'southward Dusk ($33). The colors are surprisingly cool toned, and then not at all like the warm crimson brownish and orange brown matter happening in the world of eyeshadow palettes now (and for the past few years).

Middle Shadox 10 four in lxx's Sunset ($33)

The quad has two Mattes and two Veluxe Pearls, which are MAC's shiny shimmers (but they end curt of frosty).

The two Mattes are mid-toned cool beige Sand & Dirt, which looks like a cool-toned version of MAC Soft Brownish, and a mid-toned plum like to MAC Haux.

The ii Veluxe Pearls are coppery purple Mumtaz, which has gold pearl in it (it's like MAC Trax's commencement cousin), and calorie-free mossy green Cardamom, which has a strong white undertone (it's a lot similar Pond, a at present-discontinued shimmery green that used to live in the permanent line).

Information technology's interesting how eyeshadows in the same MAC finish family can be soooo different in real life. Like, I dear shimmery imperial Mumtaz in this quad. It's incredibly smooth, and the shimmer is visible merely subtle. It's 1 of those shadows that yous put on your lids one day and realize six months afterwards that you've worn it every twenty-four hours since.

As for other Veluxe Pearl in the quad, mossy green Cardamom…information technology isn't my favorite.

I think the color suits the rest of the quad well. I mean, it belongs. Information technology brightens upwards the entire quad, and I can I totally run into myself wanting a mossy green if I were going to wear purples on my lids and lash lines, because I could practise a little classy in the inner corner, but there's something I don't like about the texture… This one doesn't feel every bit luxurious equally the other three shades. The particles are larger, and the powder sheers out faster.

I dunno… And every time a stray powder grain reaches my water lines, my optics tear upwardly a picayune.

I can make it work if I use it with a wet brush, which I might practise on occasion considering I practise like how it looks in the inner corner.

I'm wearing Mumtaz and All's Rosy on my lids, Sand & Clay in my crease and lower lash lines, and Cardamom in the inner tear duct.

Other than green Cardamom, I love this quad. The shades are pigmented (I like that I don't have to pile them on to become them to show upward on my skin), soft and highly blend-able. If you lot're tan like me or have a deeper skin tone, you could easily stone this daily.

If you're lighter than I am, it might be more of a special occasion or "going out" kind of thing, because the shades volition probably look much more intense on your pare than they practice on mine.

Overall, though, I'm diggin' this quad, even though I don't love the green.

Good job, Padma!
